US Secretary of State hosts UAE foreign minister in Washington

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Washington, DC on Tuesday for discussions.

Rubio noted on social media, “we discussed economic opportunities, regional security, and humanitarian efforts to mark the growing partnership between the United States and the UAE.”

A State Department spokesperson highlighted that the talks included reflections on President Donald Trump’s recent “historic” visit to the Gulf nation and emphasized the significance of the US-UAE strategic alliance in fostering security and prosperity.

Rubio expressed gratitude for the UAE’s humanitarian support and stressed “the imperative of ensuring that Hamas can never rule Gaza or threaten Israel again,” according to the spokesperson.

The officials also shared perspectives on various regional matters, including the situations in Syria and Sudan.
